Trust Objectives
To establish, implement and maintain the Sports Fish Management Programme in the Clutha / Mata-Au River for the benefit of the environment and for the public.

Complete consultation with Ngai Tahu and the wider community.
Preparation of consent applications for the necessary hatchery approvals, resource consents and building permits for the proposed hatchery at Roxburgh, including supporting reports.
Annual Work Programme
Develop and undertake the SFMP Annual Programme in consultation with Otago Fish and Game and other stakeholders to identify and enhance sports fisheries values and habitats. Work will include habitat enhancement, habitat protection/restoration, creel surveys, salmon harvest surveys, monitoring fish populations, e-DNA studies and the effect of hatchery salmon releases on native fish in the lower Clutha River.
Annual Salmon Research
To obtain improved information on the Upper Clutha lakes populations of salmon and the habitats they rely on to support their future management and protection.
To understand the opportunities and risks associated with using the Upper Clutha lakes populations of salmon as a potential source of hatchery broodstock.
